Troll 2
Year of Release: 1990
Director: Claudio Fragasso

This was originally not made to be a sequel to Troll, but was later rebranded as the sequel to help it make more money – because of this there isn’t a single troll in the film.

What it’s about: A family go on holiday in a small town called Nilbog (“its Goblin spelt backwards!”). Little do they know it’s overrun by Goblins who wish to turn them into living vegetables so they can eat them.

The Verdict: Troll 2 is very well known for being so bad it’s heaps of fun to watch – I would like to confirm this as being true. It’s just such an ineptly made film that it may in fact be impossible not to enjoy. The dialogue is hilariously terrible. As if the way it’s awkwardly written isn’t enough, but the actors’ line deliveries make it even worse –often it feels like they have no idea what it is they are saying and are just reciting it. I was convinced for a long period of time that the mother was actually a goblin in disguise due to the way her face looked evil and strangely like that of the goblins – turns out it’s just a complete coincidence her face looks like a goblin. Troll 2 is so jam packed full of bad scenes it’s quite hard to decide which I should mention. How about the scene where the mother asks her son to sing a song she likes and that song turns out to be Row, row, row your boat...A very fitting song for a horror movie. In another great moment the main character, a young boy, is given thirty seconds to figure out how to stop his family from eating evil food, how does he do it you ask? What a stupid question, I would’ve thought it obvious that he pees on it all of course. His father gets quite angry about this and has to tighten his belt by one notch to stop the hunger pains...the poor guy.
Troll 2 is an amazingly bad and unintentionally funny movie. You can’t help but love watching this film as it manages time after time to fail spectacularly at everything it sets out to achieve. This is an incredible bad movie that is about as good as crap cinema can get, it’s totally worth your time.

Five Craptastic Stars(5 Craptastic Stars)

Golden Craptastic moment: This amazing popcorn scene. It is by far the funniest and most random scene (and that is quite an achievement) in the whole film. I don’t want to give it all away, as it is much funnier if you discover it yourself, but it involves seduction by a corn cob, and the natural way of creating popcorn. It is true genius.
