The Verdict: Class of Nuke ‘Em High wastes no time on plot setup – within the first few minutes it’s out of the way and we are already into the gore effects. This is a very enjoyably stupid film – populated with stupid characters, and a very stupid plot – but it’s all a lot of fun. A lot of the humour and entertainment comes from how blissfully unaware the citizens of Tromaville are of the dangers and effects of having their high school located right next to the power plant – even when unexplainable things begin to happen around the school. One such example is how no one has realised for months that the school’s old honours society went from respectable citizens to drug dealing thugs when the power plant started up. Students also don’t realise the link between a garden with an amazing ability to grow weed at a crazy speed and the fact it’s surrounded by nuclear waste. The film features a bunch of great cheap effects such as a guy literally punching down someone’s throat and into their chest! The film is topped off by a great finale featuring a nuclear monster running amok in the school – its great schlocky fun!

This is a great example of how good trashy filmmaking can be. Just so stupid and random that you can’t help but have a great time watching.

Golden Craptastic Moment: When nuclear power plant workers begin falling, clearly from the effects of the toxins their co-workers just walk on by not even noticing this person on the ground dying right next to them. Also the school kids’ reaction to the final loud speaker announcement – hilarious!
